How Long Does SEO Take to Show Results? Thriving in Month Three with TCCO
October 30, 2024 | Pulsebay
We’ve all heard that SEO isn’t an overnight success – it’s a marathon, not a sprint. However, if your SEO provider can’t demonstrate tangible progress along the way, it may be time to rethink your strategy. As we move into our third month working with TCCO, we’re excited to share the progress we’ve made and what’s next.
Month 1: Laying the Foundation
In the first month, we focused heavily on keyword research and technical SEO fixes -critical steps to build a solid foundation for long-term results. Technical SEO covers the optimization of elements like schema markup, core web vitals, sitemaps, and canonicals.
We used tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Keyword Finder, and Labrika to map out key terms relevant to both residential and commercial electrical services across Auckland and New Zealand. Some of the key actions included:
- Identifying and fixing technical errors and addressing non-indexed pages using data from Google Search Console.
- Implementing 301 redirects to repair broken links and retain link equity.
- Consolidating inline styles into a global CSS file to improve the site’s SEO performance.
- Updating meta titles, headings, and descriptions to better align with targeted search intent.
By the end of Month 1, the sitemap had been revamped to ensure smooth crawling and indexing by Google, covering all critical pages.
Month 2: Strengthening Content and Building Authority
With the technical groundwork in place, our focus shifted toward content creation and building local citations. We optimized blogs, service descriptions, and landing pages, aligning them with user search intent. These content efforts, along with earlier technical fixes, gave us significant momentum.
By the end of Month 2, we had reduced the SEO errors from 81 to just 7. Keyword rankings also saw noticeable improvements—several previously unranked keywords surged up the ranks, with some moving to top positions.
A critical challenge we encountered was dealing with legacy backlinks from a previous agency. We discovered 87 harmful backlinks from domains with DA under 10 (Domain Authority), which were negatively impacting the site’s authority. We removed these links and identified additional low-quality backlinks that will be eliminated in the coming months.
Results So Far: On the Right Track
We’ve already started seeing positive results from our efforts, including:
- Improved site speed and load times, creating a better user experience.
- Increased organic traffic, with more visitors landing on the site through targeted keywords.
- Higher engagement on service pages, reflected in a reduced bounce rate.

What’s Next? Month 3 Goals
In Month 3, our focus will be on expanding content and refining off-page SEO strategies. Key areas include:
- Publishing additional service-related blogs to capture more search intent.
- Continuing to remove low-quality backlinks from previous efforts to improve site authority.
- Tracking keyword trends and making adjustments as needed to maintain upward momentum.
- Enhancing internal linking to keep content fresh and improve user engagement across pages.
How Long Until We Hit Our Goal?
SEO requires time and patience. While we’ve made substantial progress, we expect to see more concrete results between Months 4 and 6 as we maintain momentum. Our goal is to hit ambitious traffic and conversion targets by Month 5, setting the stage for even greater long-term success.
