Flutter App Development in NZ, One Codebase, Two Platforms, Half the Wait
Flutter lets us build iOS and Android apps from a single codebase, without the compromises that used to come with cross-platform development. Same native performance. Same platform feel. Shipped faster and maintained more simply than two separate native builds.
Flutter vs Native – The Honest Comparison
Flutter or Native iOS/Android?Here's When Each Makes Sense.
This is genuinely a "it depends" question, but we can give you a real answer, not a vague one.
Choose Flutter When:
You need iOS and Android and want to launch both simultaneously
Budget and timeline matter and you don't want to fund two separate development tracks
Your app's core functionality is the same on both platforms (booking, marketplace, service delivery, productivity tools)
Your UI is custom-designed and doesn't need to mirror stock iOS/Android patterns exactly
Choose native (Swift/Kotlin) when:
Your app is deeply integrated with specific device hardware (advanced camera processing, AR, NFC, Bluetooth LE)
You're building platform-specific features where native APIs are significantly ahead of Flutter equivalents
You're on iOS-only or Android-only and native tooling gives you a meaningful edge
Your brand requires pixel-perfect platform conventions that Flutter's rendering layer doesn't match
The honest answer: for most commercial app projects, Flutter delivers the performance you need at a lower total cost of ownership. We use it regularly, and we'll tell you if native is the better call for your specific project.
What we build with Flutter
Flutter ProjectsWe've Delivered
Real-time booking platforms, service provider matching, on-demand delivery, Flutter handles the dual-user (customer + provider) architecture cleanly. Explore our on-demand app work.
Property inspection apps, listing browsers, rental management platforms, with GPS, camera, and document handling built in. Explore our real estate industry work.
Internal business tools, field service apps, workflow management, apps your team uses every day on their own devices. Typically faster to build as Flutter than maintaining separate native builds.

How We BuildFlutter Apps
Discovery & Architecture
Requirements, user flows, data model, third-party integrations, all mapped before a line of code is written. We read our own Flutter development journey so you don't have to learn those lessons the hard way.
Development in Sprints
Two-week sprints. Working software at the end of each one. You test on a real device, not a simulator screenshot. Feedback in sprint, not at launch.
QA, Testing & App Store Prep
Testing across iOS and Android device ranges, performance profiling, accessibility checks, and App Store/Google Play submission prep.
Launch & Beyond
App Store and Google Play submission managed by us. Ongoing maintenance from $200/month, OS updates, bug fixes, new features on request.

Frequently AskedQuestions
Is Flutter as good as native iOS and Android?
For most app categories, yes. Flutter renders at 60fps, has mature access to device APIs (camera, GPS, biometrics, push notifications), and the UI quality is production-grade. The gap between Flutter and native has closed significantly. Where it still matters is highly specialised hardware integration, and if you need that, we'll tell you.
How much faster is Flutter than building native for both platforms?
Roughly 30–40% faster and lower cost than maintaining two separate codebases. That's build time, testing time, and ongoing maintenance. For most businesses, that's a meaningful saving.
Will my Flutter app look native on iOS and Android?
Flutter renders its own UI layer, so it doesn't use native iOS or Android components. That means complete design freedom, but you need to deliberately design to platform conventions if that matters to your users. We do this as part of the design process.
Can you convert my existing native app to Flutter?
Yes, though we'd audit the existing codebase and user experience first. A straight port rarely makes sense: usually a rewrite informed by what worked and what didn't in the original is a better outcome.
How long does a Flutter app take to build?
An MVP: 10–12 weeks. A full commercial platform: 14–20 weeks. We scope this precisely once we understand your requirements.
